If you’d like to send John a word of encouragement and let him know that you’ll be praying for him, his email is jct0008@auburn.edu. Please be in prayer for the Youth Ministry at PBC. Pray that our Youth Ministry grows and becomes a powerful discipleship force and place of fellowship. A Special Message from John
Growing up in and around PBC, I’ve came to know and appreciate many of the members here. The warm welcome that I constantly receive while in attendance at services and the generous financial support that you all have contributed towards Abundant Life Church are just a couple of the reasons that I am so excited about working with PBC. Long before Bro. Bric had spoken with me about working with the youth at Philadelphia, God had put PBC on my heart. It was a situation in which I did not want to rush into, but rather wait and see if this was God would have me do. As it turns out, all the right pieces fell into place and God opened up a door and a very exciting opportunity for me.
PBC is a place that is primed for growth, and I truly believe that developing a solid youth ministry is a crucial step in the direction of new youth, new members, and--most importantly--new Christians. One of the most exciting elements is the fact that PBC has all of the pieces to begin this ministry. We are in a wonderful location, we have the finances, we have a wonderful, supportive church, and we have a terrific Pastor. Now, we have to take the pieces that God has given us and prayerfully lay the foundation. Let us not forget that our youth is the future of our Christian faith.
Some of the first steps that I hope to take will be to develop a web page and implement social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter. Our youth communicate much differently today than the youth of the past, and it is important to communicate in a way that is easily accessible and relevant to them. From these resources, teenagers can learn about PBC, receive daily devotions, and be reminded of upcoming events and schedules.
Most importantly, the PBC Youth Ministry will be founded upon preaching, praise, and prayer. Romans 10: 17 shows the importance of preaching: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing the word of God.” John 12: 32 shows the importance of praise: “And I, if I be lifted up from Earth, will draw all men unto me."
We will be doing lots of fun events that will be revealed in the future months. One of the most important things that a teenager needs is a close relationship to good Christian friends who are interested in being about God’s business. I hope to schedule things that are interesting and fun. Hopefully we will be able to do as much as possible and create an incredible bond amongst one another.
I ask that each of you be in prayer of this exciting addition to the church. I am very thankful for this opportunity and look forward to personally meeting you all and serving at PBC.
